The Ideal Bahamian Resort

Small Hope is an informal holiday resort located on Andros Island, Bahamas. The lodge was hand built by Dick Birch and his family and friends out of coral rock and Andros's famous hardy pine. A friendly relaxed atmosphere that many great people from world leaders to famous artists have stayed and called home each time they came.

This historic Lodge (which was the first dive resort in the Caribbean during the early days of scuba diving) is home to one of our dining and bar areas, a comfortable lounge with cushy couches and throw pillows. A games room and reading room with extensive library link to the lounge. Our embracing and relaxed atmosphere makes this a truly unique Bahamian hotel.

Outside on the waters edge, and next to our beach is a well-stocked FREE bar and dining area, with amazing night views of the sky, and our dock. Nothing says relaxation better than sipping a cocktail underneath a starry sky listening to the waves gently lapping the shore while talking about an amazing dive, or the latest big catch of the day.

At Small Hope we help you to find the true getaway you are looking for, and help you disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Relax in our informal and natural surroundings, no need for shoes so bare feet is the norm and most people wear t-shirts, sarongs or anything that lets you relax. We have phone and fax available for use in the office and our free wifi covers the lounge, reading room, outside bar and both dining areas. To help you relax and disconnect we have no newspapers, and no TVs, but we do have the 3rd largest barrier reef in the world, the best Bonefishing anywhere, kayaks, sail boats, bikes, hot tub and beaches. There is also a small boutique where you can buy island crafts and souvenirs and any other toiletries you may need.

Rooms:

Twenty-one beach front cottages each hand-built with overhead ceiling fans and optional air conditioning, with locally made furniture, decorated in beautiful Androsia fabric. There are four two-bedroom cottages for families, as well as a special honeymoon cottage. All are shaded by palms and located on the Bay just a few steps from the water. All our rooms can be customized to suit your needs with King-size beds and single beds available. You can also get your clothes cleaned and dried by our laundry services.
