Getting to Andros Island, The Bahamas is very easy!
We may be slightly off the beaten path, but that's a big
part of our appeal. Even though we're not in the center of a big tourist hub (thankfully!) we're really quite accessible.

At Small Hope we have all the fishing gear you will ever need. But if you would like to bring anything of your own – rods, flies, lures, etc.- feel free!
Our Guide Glaister recommends bringing a variety of flies because what works on one day might not work on another. “One day one type of fly may work beautifully. The next day, with the same fish in the same spot you may catch nothing”, he says.
His recommended Flies are Spawning Shrimp (with small lead eyes), any kind of Gotcha, or Clousers; all 4's and/or 6's. These are suggested because they resemble the shrimp or crustaceans which constitute the diet of the Bonefish.
His recommended tackle is the standard Bonefish 8 weight fly rod with 9 foot tapered leaders. The recommended range in Tippet size is 8-16 lbs.
While the fishing tackle is important, Glaister also stresses that the appropriate clothing can make the difference between a good trip and a bad trip. If you aren’t wearing pants and long sleeves, then bring something to cover yourself up. Two items which most people forget, and which are very important, are bug spray and sunscreen! Also recommended are a hat with black lining, and sunglasses with UV protection. Carry a light waterproof jacket too, in case it starts raining and you don’t want to get wet, although when fishing, getting wet is something you should expect. Wading boots are also a good idea in case you have to wade in the water.
